Our Tailwheel Orientation Flights are designed to familiarize a pilot with what flying a tailwheel airplane is all about. The flight will typically last 1 to 1 1/2 hours and consist of a trip to the practice area for climbs, glides, turns, steep turns, slow flight and stalls, to get the feel of the Citabria. We then return to the airport for some takeoffs and landings.
The Tailwheel Refresher Course is designed for the pilot who has flown tailwheel aircraft in the past and needs an update to knock off the rust and regain competency and confidence. See the syllabus in the Tailwheel Refresher Course Syllabus page on this web site. This course is client driven in that we train to confidence and competency.
The Tailwheel Transition Training results in a logbook endorsement. There is no minimum flight time required for the endorsement so we train to proficiency. If everything goes perfectly, it will take about 4 hours of flight time just to complete all the maneuvers. I have placed a syllabus of the Transition course in the Tailwheel Transition Course Syllabus Page of this site for further information. Wings Flight Activity credit can be earned with the endorsement.
The Spin Training Course is designed for the CFI candidate who needs the endorsement in his/her logbook and any pilot who just wants to experience spins and learn to avoid them and to recover from them. It adds the extra level of safety and confidence that comes from actually experiencing these maneuvers. The syllabus is in the Spin Training Syllabus page on this site.
The Unusual Attitude Recovery Course is designed to give the client the life saving skills needed to recover from an upset resulting from wake turbulance, wind shear or any situation causing the aircraft to unexpectedly leave steady state flight. It not only results in serious, potentially lifesaving skills, it is fun. See the syllabus in the Unusual Attitude Syllabus page on this web site.
The FAA requires a minimum of 1 hour ground training and 1 hour flight training and we have found that the flight time will be more like 1 1/2 hours. This Flight Review is designed for the pilot who wants to experience and learn something new, not just the same old thing all over again. See the syllabus in the Flight Review Syllabus page on this web site.
